Davos speech marked a turning point — a clear-eyed admission that the era of unquestioned
global integration is over, and that great power rivalry now defines our reality. Acknowledging this
rupture requires courage.
But as Churchill once said, ‘Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak; courage is also what
it takes to sit down and listen and to act.’ Now is the time for that second kind of courage: the
wisdom to listen to our challenges, and the resolve to act decisively.
The path forward demands more than adaptation. It demands that we forge a new kind of
strength — built not on nostalgia, but on resilience, sovereignty, and principled realism. We must
diversify our partnerships, invest relentlessly in our own capacity, and ensure that no single power
can dictate Canada’s future.
This is not a task for government alone. In these pivotal moments, our national strength will be
measured by our unity. Let every Canadian — from boardrooms to workshops, from coast to
coast — commit to this common purpose. Together, we will build a Canada that is not merely
secure, but sovereign; not just resilient, but respected.
